Issued by the Kingdom of Prussia to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Emperor Wilhelm I. The medal was awarded to military personnel and civilians alike and was made of silver or bronze, depending on the recipient's rank and position.

The medal features an image of Emperor Wilhelm I on one side and the Prussian coat of arms on the other. The inscription on the medal reads "Wilhelm I, Born March 22, 1797." The medal was designed by the German artist and medalist Emil Weigand.
